MY ENTIRE PLANT COLLECTION
Please enjoy my plant collection. Done. I’m kidding. Haha. I tried to take photos of each of my plants for this post showcasing my plant collection. This is as of April 15. I always add new plants to my collection so if you see on my Instagram stories that it is quite different please know I always add and rearrange my plants. 😉
HOW IT STARTED?
If you would ask me three years ago if I would be a plant person I would say you’re crazy but I would probably say it’s possible. If I could attribute my current affinity to plants I would probably blame it to my grandparents. My parents aren’t into plants when I was growing up. So as you know, I grew up with a grandmother who’s a Home Economics teacher and a grandfather who owns a coconut and mango plantation. I was basically raised surrounded by a lot of plants. My childhood home is filled with different kinds of greenery. Most of those are Bougainvillea. My grandmother was obsessed with them. You can say those are her favorite ornamental and flowering plants.
I was also brought up exposed to climbing mountains and planting crops. I remember my Lolo Jorge would criticize my pasty white skin and thus to remedy that I would be brought to his trips up the mountain and plant. I remember as I child I would experiment on planting roses, daisies, tomatoes and etc. My mother would praise me and say I had a green thumb. I shrugged it off because not all my experiments are successful aka some died. LOL
HOW IT STARTED? (AGAIN)
I wasn’t really into raising plants throughout high school and college maybe because I didn’t have the time and the opportunity. Perhaps there were a handful of attempts when I’ll be gifted cactuses or succulents during events but nothing really major.
What really started all this again is when my friend Etienne gave me a 2-leaf cutting of a Monstera Delicosa. Thanks again Etienne and Jon! I remembered that I mentioned to her that I really liked the leaves of that certain plant. Monsteras were starting to get really popular 2 years ago. I remembered feeling really happy because Monsteras were and still are expensive to buy and I got it for free. Did I also mention that Monsteras are rarely available at plant shops? So there, I immediately researched how to care for it. I watched a lot of Youtube videos and read a lot blogs. There and then some people may say the rest is history. I became a plant person. I now have a lot of plants. I don’t even bother counting because it keeps on multiplying because I also keep on propagating. I just can’t help it.
