Daghang Salamat sa Napulo ka Tuig Uniqlo! | UNIQLO Celebrates 10 Years of LifeWear and Community in Cebu

UNIQLO celebrates 10 years in Cebu

In my opinion, UNIQLO has quietly become part of Cebuano culture. In just ten years, it has grown from a familiar retail brand into something many of us naturally turn to for everyday wear. Whether it is dressing for work, travel, Sinulog, or just daily errands, UNIQLO LifeWear has found its place in how Cebuanos live, move, and show up. So seeing the brand celebrate its 10th year in Cebu this January feels personal, especially during a season that already means so much to the city.

Every January, Cebu welcomes the new year with color, rhythm, and devotion through the Sinulog Festival. This 2026, the celebration carries added meaning as UNIQLO marks a decade in the Queen City of the South. Over the years, the brand has grown alongside Cebu’s evolving lifestyle, offering clothing defined by function, quality, and timeless design.

UNIQLO first opened its doors in SM City Cebu and has since expanded across the city. Today, it serves the Cebuano community through five branches located in SM City Cebu, SM Seaside Cebu, SM City J Mall, Ayala Center Cebu, and Ayala Central Bloc. This growth reflects not just retail expansion, but a shared journey with the city itself.

Celebrating with the Cebuano Community

UNIQLO’s 10th anniversary celebrations go beyond promotions. Each Cebu branch is part of the festivities, offering cultural activations, exclusive offers, and sustainability programs that include both the local community and Sinulog festival attendees.

The brand has also shown consistent commitment to helping Cebuanos in times of need. In 2025, when several communities were affected by calamities, UNIQLO extended support through large-scale donations. In September, 4,000 AIRism items were distributed to communities in Bogo City in partnership with SM Foundation, along with hygiene kits for over 800 individuals. Additional AIRism donations were given to areas affected by Super Typhoon Uwan and Typhoon Tino in Cebu, Bacolod, and Aurora. UNIQLO also provided assistance to its 300 Cebu based employees and their families who were impacted by these disasters.

In December, UNIQLO continued its sustainability efforts through the RE.UNIQLO initiative, donating around 4,000 AIRism and pre loved items to over 500 beneficiaries in Talisay. These efforts reflect how the brand celebrates milestones with purpose.

Exclusive UTme! Collection for Cebu

To say thank you to the city, UNIQLO launches an exclusive UTme! Collection on January 12. Designed by Cebu based painter and illustrator Meream Pacayra, the collection features everyday Cebuano slang and scenes inspired by the vibrant Sinulog Festival. It is a wearable celebration of local identity and creativity.

Limited Offers and Anniversary Activities

From January 16 to 22, customers can enjoy limited offers on select items, available exclusively at UNIQLO Cebu stores. Special novelty and partner promotions are also part of the celebration.

From January 16 to 18, shoppers who make a single receipt purchase of P3,000 at any UNIQLO Cebu store receive a free UNIQLO luggage tag when they scan their UNIQLO App at checkout.

Early visitors are also rewarded. The first 100 customers at any UNIQLO Cebu store receive a free plain croissant and a P200 discount gift card from The Abaca Group, with no purchase required. UNIQLO App members can also join the App Scan Raffle from January 16 to 18 with any single receipt purchase. Prizes include an overnight stay for two at The Reef Island Resort Mactan, a P2,000 Maya E Gift Certificate, or a weekend brunch for two at Abaca Baking Company.

Special In Store Experiences for App Members

UNIQLO App members can enjoy additional in store activities from January 16 to 18, including a free photobooth service and wet tattoo stickers, adding a fun and expressive touch to the anniversary celebrations.

As Cebu continues to grow as a regional hub filled with talent and creativity, UNIQLO’s ten years in the city feel less like a milestone and more like a shared story. One built on everyday wear, thoughtful design, and a genuine connection with the Cebuano community.

After a decade, LifeWear does not just clothe Cebuanos. It moves with them.
